Hillingdon council takes up a new initiative for the lovers of live music and literature thanks to the collaboration between the council’s Arts and Library Services.
Residents are invited to sample “the best” of the local musical and literary talents, with the handpicked selection of performers and encouraged to take part in the activity themselves.
The council invites all residents- even if not from Hillingdon, to come and present their talents in 5 minutes. The event will give the opportunity to perform in front of a big audience to many yet uncovered talented people. Regardless of the nature of their talent, everyone is welcomed- poets, singers, songwriters, authors, comedians and spoken words artists.
Mrs Valentina Doncheva, 51, from Apple Tree Avenue, West Drayton said: “I think I will take part in this performance night. My husband went to a similar event last year and said he had amazing time. I think it is a great opportunity to network and meet new people.”
The first event of the initiative will take place on Friday, the 1st of April from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Uxbridge Library (doors open at 7pm). Other events of the same programme will be hold on the 23rd of April, the 3rd of June, the 5th of August, the 7th of October and the 2nd of December 2016.
Tickets will cost £3.50 which includes one free drink at the bar. To book a slot or find out more about the event, please email openmic@hillingdon.gov.uk .
