Hillingdon is going to host the Street Velodrome, pop-up temporarily cycling track in Fassnidge Park. The Velodrome will be available to residents on Saturday, the 21st of May and Sunday, the 22nd of May 2016.
Hillingdon Council promises that the Velodrome will offer cyclists the opportunity to ride for free on a unique stage in a thrilling series and showcase some of the best cycling talent. Families are strongly encouraged to come and cycle or just watch together for a while and have fun.
In addition to the Velodrome, there will be a variety of other activities, such as: display of vintage bicycles, safer cycling guidance, circus workshops and workshops on how to repair your bicycle.
To make things even more exciting, the Council promises a race on Sunday (the 22nd of may) as there will be an open round competition in the morning and an official race event in the afternoon. The official race will be recorded for television, to be aired in October.
Mr Emil Neshev, 50, from Royal Lane said:
“I think it is great that the Council is supporting such activities and for free. There is not much going on for families in the area but sounds like a good opportunity for an active day out with my family.”
Residents willing to take part in the race should register in advance on www.hillingdon.gov.uk
