A NEW and improved Worthing Rotary Carnival will kick off this Saturday and, for the first time, will take place over the entire bank holiday weekend.
The three-day carnival, which raises money for charity along Worthing seafront, will be packed with fun and festivities and this year is hosting a Vintage Vibe theme including a car show, beach market, live music and entertainment as well as a family festival day with interactive workshops and live performances.
Since its beginning in 1921, Rotary Carnival has raised over £40,000 for charitable causes such as Ferring Country Centre, its most recent recipient, as well as contributing to other worthy causes including RNLI, Worthing Homeless, Marie Curie, Shelter Boxes and many other worthwhile organisations.
Lynda Vowles of Ferring Country Centre said, “The Rotarians have always been enthusiastic, fun loving and dedicated in their support. They share a common interest in helping others and we are grateful for this.”
As well as plenty of fun for the ultimate family experience including face painting, long nose puppets and the Acrojou Outdoor Theatre displaying theatrical acrobatics, there will be a beach house bar bringing cocktails, craft beer and chilled wine for the adults to enjoy.
Sue Worthington, Chairman of Worthing Carnival said, “Rotary Carnival and Bartie Presents are working together to make 2015 the best one ever and have made the decision to extend it across the bank holiday weekend to create even more opportunities to fund raise and ensure everyone has a chance to get involved with the festivities.”
The carnival extravaganza will be free as always to attend and will be topped off by a parade along the seafront.
Following the devastating air show crash in Shoreham, a minute’s silence will be held on the Beach House Grounds on Saturday to commemorate its victims.
The weekend is sponsored by Bartie Presents, Rotary Clubs of Worthing, Awards for All – National Lottery, Community Initiative Funding, Worthing Borough Council, The Money Tree and Worthing Community Chest.
